Yard Assistant Role

About the Role

The Yard Assistant role is responsible for ensuring the goods inwards, order picking, lorry loading and customer collection (both trade & domestic) processes are completed accurately and on-time.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure stock inwards accurately corresponds to the delivery ticket.
  • Ensure stock is stored away safely, neatly and in the correct location.
  • Ensure products are picked accurately for delivery schedule or customer collections, including any special items.
  • Ensure customer delivery vehicles are loaded correctly, and safely, against the delivery schedule prior to leaving the yard.
  • Operate a forklift safely and effectively, ensuring minimum damage to materials; perform daily vehicle safety checks and report faults.
  • Assist in keeping the yard clean, neat, safe, secure and operating efficiently.

Location: Oakleaf Farm or Shana

Christmas/New Year shutdown

Hours

7.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday

8am - 12.30pm Every other Saturday

Salary: £26-28k

  • Organised and personable.

  • Experience of driving a counter-balanced forklift required

Trade Counter Role

The business has grown enormously over this period, and as a result, we continue to look for passionate people to join our team.

 

About the Role

The Trade Counter role is responsible for driving business sales from face-to-face enquiries at the Trade Counter or over the telephone, by building strong customer relationships through a desire to fulfil their needs and a deep understanding of our product offering.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage direct customer traffic to the Trade Counter.
  • Manage inbound sales calls, answering queries and providing advice.
  • Take card and till payments accurately.
  • Arrange displays, and the overall presentation of the Shop, ensuring all items have a barcode and the correct price.
  • Undertake regular stock checks, and ensure all relevant stock is on display; re-order stock for the Shop, as and when appropriate.
  • Ensure the Shop, and any stock areas, are kept as clean and tidy as possible.

Transport Manager Role

With an unrivalled range and stock holding this has meant it has grown into a true one stop shop for both Landscaping and the Fencing trade alike. The business has grown enormously over this period, and as a result, we continue to look for passionate people to join our team.

 

About the Role

The Transport Manager role is responsible for the overall logistics plan for both sites, including goods inwards, scheduling loads and schedules for customer deliveries, and ensuring both yards are aware of any truck movements.  In addition, they are responsible for ensuring, and monitoring, that all Country Supplies trucks and drivers conform to all legal requirements in terms of roadworthiness and driver hours.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the traffic management process is efficient and effective for both yards.
  • Record driver start and finish times, length of breaks, and ensure that Taco submissions are accurate.
  • Plan the loads and routes for customer deliveries, ensuring weight capacities, size limitations and driver hours are not exceeded, whilst optimising truck usage.
  • Manage the service and repair of the Country Supplies fleet, including breakdown recovery, and company fuel cards.
  • Monitor, record and implement the compliance of all transport policies and legislation.
  • Appraise and manage performance, development and coaching of all team members.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Qualifications sufficient to perform the job role e.g., Level 3 CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in National Road Haulage for Transport Managers.
  • Ability to use software/Information Technology.
  • Ability in transport management and customer/supplier relationship management.
  • Leadership with ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • High degree of integrity and honesty in all dealings.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Full driving licence including requirements such as HGV.
